Luella Biggers White, a resident of Plantation Estates Matthews NC went to be with the Lord early Friday, October 14. Luella was the wife of Ronald Eugene White for 59 years before he passed away in 2005. Luella was born December 07, 1925 in Wesley Chapel, near Monroe, NC.

Luella worked most of her adult life keeping a day nursery in her home. She later worked as a lab technician for Imperial Chemical Inc. until she retired.

A lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, Luella was baptized and raised at Siler Presbyterian in Wesley Chapel, later joining Sunset Hills Presbyterian in Charlotte which became St. Andrews. Lastly, Luella and Ronald were active at Philadelphia Presbyterian in Mint Hill, NC where they enjoyed square dancing and travelling America and Great Britain with friends.

Luella is survived by her three children Karen Koontz (husband Mike), Barry White (wife Ginny), and Steve White (wife Jeannie). She was blessed to have and loved to care for her six grandchildren: Jennifer Brown, Eric and Greg Koontz; Matthew White, Katie Cox and Nellie White. Going to Grandmamma' s always meant riding tricycles, playing basketball and scooting across the backyard on the Slip & Slide. Wonderful trips were taken in the motorhome Luella and Ronald bought and enjoyed for many years.

In turn, Luella was so blessed to have gotten to enjoy their ten great grandchildren: Jack, Luke, Annette, and Joy Brown; Clare, Sam, and Josiah Koontz; Sydney and Reece Cox, and Eleanor White.

Luella is also survived by her brother Johnny Biggers and sisters Ann Johnson and Jane Carr.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Martha Biggers, brothers Wilson, Carl and Bill Biggers, and her sisters Frances Bigham and Madelene Wood.

Luella was known for her brilliant gardening skills, both floral and vegetable, her sumptuous Sunday lunches, and her lavish holiday feasts, which always included her beloved Molasses and Spritz cookies.

Luella will always be remembered for her love of her family and in particular, for her tireless and faithful care for Ronald in his declining years.

There will be a private family burial Monday October 17. Visitation will be from 3-4 pm, followed by a memorial service at 4pm at Plantation Estates, Hwy 51, Matthews, NC (between Sardis Rd and Old Monroe Rd.)

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to AriseandShineUganda.org, the baby home that cared for Annet and Joy, Luella's newest great granddaughters.
