Norma Genevieve Fleenor Long, 85, died Friday, May 12, 2017 in Lebanon, Virginia after a brief illness.

She was born in the Wyndale Community of Washington County, Virginia on October 24, 1931 to Earl Franklin and Dora Lynn Fleenor. She graduated from Wallace High School in 1949 and attended Washington County Business School. Ms. Long was employed at Bristol Steel for nearly twenty years as a traffic clerk.

Norma Genevieve Fleenor Long, 85, died Friday, May 12, 2017 in Lebanon, Virginia after a brief illness.

She was born in the Wyndale Community of Washington County, Virginia on October 24, 1931 to Earl Franklin and Dora Lynn Fleenor. She graduated from Wallace High School in 1949 and attended Washington County Business School. Ms. Long was employed at Bristol Steel for nearly twenty years as a traffic clerk.

Mrs. Long was an active member of Blair Road United Methodist Church, Mint Hill, NC until her move to Lebanon, where she attended the Lebanon United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Guy Long, who died in 1999 and a son, Jonathon E. Cole.

She is survived by a son, David F. Cole (Reatha), of Lebanon, VA; two daughters, Alica Cole White (Steven) of Gettysburg, PA and Maria Chisum (John) of Huntsville, AL; two grandsons, Daniel Cooper White (Saskia) of Chesterfield, MA and Noah Chisum of Birmingham, AL; two granddaughters, Sara White Van Meerbeke (James) of Baltimore, MD and Ashley Chisum of Cleveland, TN; three great-grandchildren, Madison Sample and Bailey Sample of Cleveland, TN and Nathan Van Meerbeke of Baltimore, MD. Grandson Daniel and his wife Saskia are expecting a baby in July; and two sisters, Carol Gose and Betty Fleenor of Lexington, SC. Norma is also survived by a special niece, Cindy Inman of Lexington, SC and nephew, Christopher Fleenor of Bristol, VA.
A visitation will be held from five until seven o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 16th of May, 2017 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

A graveside service will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 17th of May, 2017 at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to either Blair Road United Methodist Church, Mint Hill, NC or Lebanon United Methodist Church, Lebanon, VA.
