Theron L. Turner, 91, of Mint Hill, NC went to his eternal home on Friday, September 15, 2017. He was born January 13, 1926 in Union County, NC to Lula Mae Thomas and George McKenley Turner. Theron worked in textiles at Whiting Machine Company of Charlotte, NC for 43 years. When he was able, he attended Mint Hill Baptist Church where he was a member.

He was an Army veteran serving during WWII. He served under General Patton and was wounded in the battle of Bonn Germany. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and...

Theron L. Turner, 91, of Mint Hill, NC went to his eternal home on Friday, September 15, 2017. He was born January 13, 1926 in Union County, NC to Lula Mae Thomas and George McKenley Turner. Theron worked in textiles at Whiting Machine Company of Charlotte, NC for 43 years. When he was able, he attended Mint Hill Baptist Church where he was a member.

He was an Army veteran serving during WWII. He served under General Patton and was wounded in the battle of Bonn Germany. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many family and friends enjoyed vegetables from his garden. In his later years, he made cedar swings. He was a member of the Mint Hill VFW and for many years cooked fish for their Friday night fish fries. He served his community as a volunteer fireman for overt thirty years at the Mint Hill Fire Station.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Faye; daughter, Margaret Diane Dorton ( Hugh); sons, Rev. Dr. David Turner (Donna), Phillip Turner (Diana); sister, Dolly Turner (Phillip); grandchildren, Misty, Dean, Dana, and Toni; great-grandchildren, Caraline, Nathan, Deja, Belle, Edward VI, and James. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Theron was preceded in death by his brothers, Muldrew and Don and sisters, Newel Broadway and Doris Tucker.
A celebration of Theron's life will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at McEwen Funeral Home-Mint Hill Chapel in Mint Hill at 11:00am. Receiving of friends will be on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm also at the funeral home.
